Flowering Desert, Chile
The flowering desert is a climatic phenomenon that occurs in the Atacama Desert, known as the driest place in the world. The phenomenon consists of the blossoming of a wide variety of flowers between the months of September and November in years when rainfall is unusually high. The flowering desert involves more than 200 species of flower most of them endemic to the Atacama region.

Cross at the Saint Nicholas Church of Orthodox Old Believers; Marianna, Pennsylvania. The Old Believers are a schism of Russian Orthodoxy, separated after 1666 from the official Russian Orthodox Church as a protest against church reforms introduced by Patriarch Nikon between 1652 and 1666. Old Believers continue liturgical practices which the Russian Orthodox Church maintained before the implementation of these reforms. There are only three such churches in the United States.
The inscription on the cross is in Old Church Slavonic, the liturgical language of the Old Believers. It is written here in Cyrillic, but older texts are written in the Glagolitic alphabet, an early Slavic writing system.
The inscription translates (thanks to miniminimalist on Reddit):
ЦРЬ СЛВЫ - Царь Славы - King of Glory
ICXC - Иисус Христос - Jesus Christ
СНЪ БЖIН - Сын Божий - Son of God
К - Копье - Spear
Т - Трость с губкой - Stick with a sponge
NИ КА - Greek letters, meaning “is victorious” or “conquers”, referring to Jesus vanquishing Evil in Christian theology.
М Л Р Б - Место лобное распят бысть - the place, where he was crucified
